Crystal Pier at golden hour, Pacific Beach — long exposure captures silky water beneath the pier with a warm evening sky

Pacific Beach, San Diego

Crystal Pier Sunset

2 Hours $250 Bespoke Private

1 SECOND · F/11 · ISO100 · 24MM (EF 24-70MM) · CANON EOS R5

Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach is unlike any other pier in San Diego. Its charming white wooden cottages perched over the Pacific create storybook compositions, especially as the day softens into evening.

The warm tones of a Crystal Pier sunset are unlike anything else in San Diego. The white-painted cottages catch the golden light beautifully, the pier's older wooden construction adds texture and character, and the Pacific Beach backdrop gives every wide shot a sense of place. It's immediately recognizable, yet most visitors never see it the way a photographer can.

During this session, Arnel will guide you through the beach approach angles, the from-the-water perspective (wade-in optional), and the elevated compositions that give the pier its full storybook quality. You'll practice reading sunset timing, working with silhouette versus illuminated subjects, and using a tripod effectively on uneven sand.
