Arnel Garcia
Helping photographers translate what they see and feel into photographs.
Arnel Garcia is a San Diego–based photographer and mentor known for capturing the dramatic interplay of light, water, and atmosphere along California's coastline. For more than two decades, he has photographed landscapes and seascapes with a storyteller's eye, often using long exposures to transform waves, clouds, and shifting light into images filled with motion, mood, and quiet drama.
His work has received recognition in several photography competitions, including Grand Prize at the Fiesta Island Photo Contest and Second Place in the U.S. Department of Energy's national "Make a Splash" photography contest. His photography has also appeared in magazines like Popular Photography and American Photo. In the book Take your Best Shot.
Through private photography tours along San Diego's iconic spots, Arnel helps photographers master camera settings and to understand light, composition, and timing—guiding them to create photographs that express, to paraphrase Alfred Steiglitz what they saw and they felt in the moment.
