Arnel Garcia biography

"Helping photographers translate what they see and feel into photographs."

For almost twenty years, I have roamed landscapes from our national parks to the coastal edges of San Diego, always following the light. I still get excited when the sky burns and explodes in color, when a long exposure turns a crashing wave into silk, or when the first rays of sunrise reveal the world in its full glory. Every time the light does something extraordinary, I want someone else to see it too. That is what brought me to private photography tours.

I am a self-taught photographer, inspired by nature. My work has been recognized in several competitions, including Grand Prize at the Fiesta Island Photo Contest and Second Place in the U.S. Department of Energy's national "Make a Splash" contest, and has appeared in Popular Photography, American Photo, and the book Take Your Best Shot. But what I value most is knowing that I captured exactly what I felt in that moment. And I love sharing that passion.

I specialize in coastal long exposure, golden to blue hour, and seascapes, work that demands technical mastery, patience, timing, and knowing where to stand. I tailor every tour to your skill level, whether you are picking up a camera for the first time or refining techniques you have been practicing for years. You will leave with photographs that are yours, images that express, as Alfred Stieglitz once suggested, what you saw and what you felt.
